Regarding CRAU updates, does characters who gained powers from other games will lose their them upon entry? Plus, what happens if they are CRAU updated to a game where they gain any power?

In Selphie's original canon that I sorely need to canon review... abilities are obtained through equipping Guardian Forces. For the sake of transparency, how would a GF work in Genessia's setting?

Selfie's GFs would fit under the summoning guidelines (third to last question here) as long as she has them equipped upon arrival since they are from her canon and would fit in the pods!

Can you find non-earth food from specific canons in Nova City? Like, would it be possible to find a supermarket that sells bantha meat?

Typically nothing canon-specific, but he might find some alien food that looks and smells exactly like it. It'll probably be called bontha meat or something just barely off...

Guardian pay

Would it be permissible for the Guardian to reduce his own pay to have more stars available for paying deputies? (Specifically, with deputy pay reduced from 4* to 3*, I was thinking of him giving up his 5th star to get a third deputy equal pay)

Sure thing, that's fine! Think of the City Guardian's office as having a total budget of 5+4+4 (13). You can distribute that however you'd like. As for the volunteer, when your volunteer deputy comments the employment page, just have them put "Volunteer" for pay scale and we'll add it then. Because it's customizable by budget, we'll add them as they're submitted with your permission as city guardian.

Quick question! Is there any possible way for, say, a genius in computing and electrical wiring to make a regular ol' Earth 2013ish cellphone work in Genessia? Like something Harold could tap into to use for a wireless signal? He's trying to create a private means of communication off-Network. Thank you!

It wouldn't particularly take a genius, so yes! While there's no cell phone network, Nova City has city-wide wifi access. Genessia City has individual wifi areas including hot spots and businesses like Moonbucks, as does Attleton. Fayren has zero internet accessibility beyond the devices (medieval tech level) as does Everglade (think rotary phones tech level).

I have two questions, out of curiosity!

One relating to characters, there's a character I've been thinking about picking up, but he only has a nickname (callsign) in canon and no given real name in any official material. It's a case similar to Blaze, but this time it wouldn't really make much sense for him to use a military designation as opposed to his real name in a civilian environment. Would Genessia take any specific approach to that? ie, handwaving a reason why he might use the nickname (like something upon arrival causing him to forget his actual name), if he might make up a "real" name to protect himself, or potentially something else entirely?

Also relating to subarchways! If a character opens a subarchway and then drops, but there's still someone who's technically from the same world but from a completely different timeline, would the subarchway still remain open or is the timeline difference big enough that it closes regardless? I only ask since Alter Cipher had a subarchway and while he and Gale are from the same world, they're from very different timelines, so I've been wondering for a while if Gale's presence means it's still open or not.

Sorry this took so long for a response. We were a little stumped on what to do about the name part but ultimately decided it may be best to handwave it. There's not really a plot-specific reason that we can provide for it, so we could just say the network glitched or something and got stuck in his device ID.

For the subarchway, we'll leave it up to the player specifically (so your call). With OC's you always want to let us know if you're going to keep it open though because there's no application process, so mods don't necessarily know right away if your OC's are from the same universe. (If you don't let us know, we might sweep it when we go through the settings page.)

I have a question regarding Phantom Thief forms/Persona summoning for the P5 characters! In P5, the characters can only summon their Personas while in their Phantom Thief form, which they turn into automatically when the owner of the Palace they're in perceives them as a threat. Since the Metaverse isn't a thing here, is there another way they can access their Phantom Thief forms? If not, can they still summon their Personas without them?

There are ways to access their Persona's without being in the world they would usually need. (Yukiko, for example, can access hers here without being in the tv world.) Since a Persona is a part of who they are.

Yukiko in her case simply focuses and the card she uses to summon appears. The same thing could apply in this case as well.

Employment IC question time!

My character plans to live in Fayren, but since he's planning to become a librarian or assistant librarian in Genessia's library, I wonder if it will affect his work schedule if he is planning to get a job in Fayren as well.

So my question is that will a character that has a job in the city like Genessia will affect anything to their other job in another city?

If it is a full-time job, it is considered a 40 hour job. If it is marked "Part-Time" assume 20 hours. Some jobs, like bounty hunting, are on an as-needed or commission basis, so they would take less time or have a flexible schedule. Other jobs require set times/hours. You can't work in a library from midnight to 4am part-time because they wouldn't be open then, so you'd have to work during the day for that job. In the same right, if you're a baker you can't come in at 10am if the business opens at 7am.

Just like with real life jobs, your character has to be able to understand that they are going to be working a ton if they have more than one job. Most people with full-time jobs RL don't recommend doing it unless you need to because it's stressful and often leaves little time for yourself. Since most jobs in Genessia pay a substantially livable wage, it's not necessary. If your character is a workaholic type, though, go for it. Just be aware that between their jobs and necessities, there's a good chance your character will be exhausted and have no time to themselves if they have more than one job, especially if they're in separate cities. Even with the new WayPoints system to quickly get from city to city, you still have travel times within the cities.

Hi! I'm currently slowly making my way though the FAQ for this game but I don't think my character is covered on either the allowed or not allowed character section. (I think the closest she comes to is a fandom OC?)

She's a character I created for a Vampire the Requiem/Chronicles of Darkness campaign, and I see you already have a character from the very similar Changeling the Dreaming/World of Darkness marked as a Fandom OC on your taken list.

I'm hoping that this means my character is indeed welcome in the game as a fandom OC, but still thought it would be best to ask if that was the case first?

If it's an existing game of any kind that you did not write the setting for, then it would be considered a fandom OC!

The running theory currently is that coming to Genessia essentially puts their old life on pause. What, if anything (assuming it's not just a made up theory for people to feel better with nothing substantial behind it) is the reasoning/evidence behind this? At most , all I've got is that it could be assumed that their past life is still going on because the Dream Docks reflects that whenever people use it.

As those are player-constructed theories and it has not been information given in the game, you would have to ask the players who constructed them.

Question! This character is from a non-localized game in the Ace Attorney series that most likely will never be localized... However, there's a playable fan translation that does its best to line up with the other games that have already been officially translated and gives the characters localized names. Would I be able to play this character from that fan translation?

That's fine! Many anime character players utilize fan translations, particularly when series aren't localized. As long as there is a somewhat accurate translation that's easily available to the public, that's fine.

Question regarding canon updating! Would Akira be able to retain any new Personas he acquires during an update, since they're part of him and not physical objects?

Quick question! At Maggie's canon point coming over into the game, she's pregnant. I'm not sure how to handle that in game? It's been suggested that maybe only she came through (so she would lose the pregnancy) and I'm thinking that makes the most sense, but wanted to run it by the mods just be on the safe side. Dear mods, please advise!

We decided that we will ultimately leave this up to you. Given that it's unlikely the child will ever develop a personality in TWD (unless it runs for like 10 more years but most shows don't so we're taking a leap here) if you would like her to have it as an NPC, that's fine. If you would prefer not to deal with it, you can say that just she was brought over.

That said, unless the player of a business has a problem with it, he should be able to get a job just about anywhere. NPC-run businesses are all open to him.

What's the air pressure like in Genessia and the other cities?

Obviously this will change with the weather, but about what altitude on Earth would it be equivalent to? Sea level, 1000 feet up, etc.

It's pretty average and similar to Earth. The altitude changes based on location (sea level at the ocean in Fayren, whereas it would be much higher in the mountains for example). A number of locations are airborne in Nova City so they would have a much higher altitude than anything on the ground. Is there anywhere in specific you needed to know about?

For characters who have returned to Genessia, would they still have access to money that they saved up previously?

Sertoria and Hikaru both had a considerable amount of money saved from their jobs before they left, so I'm not sure if they'd be able to keep that upon coming back again.

If your character made arrangements at the Will and Testament building for their assets then they will be wherever they are. However, they would not have just been sitting around waiting for them to come back unless another character ICly took care of them.

Question: I understand that characters who gained powers in CRAU will have those nerfed, but what about cosmetic changes? My girl used shape-shifting abilities she got in Cosmographia to change her overall appearance, making herself taller and more androgynous; can I have her keep her new look under the premise that she just can't change it now? (The gem she has on her chest will also, likewise, be purely cosmetic now.)

She also has a medical condition she's used her powers to stabilize. It isn't life-threatening, but would this be allowed to continue in the setting provided her other powers are gone?

She would revert back to her traditional canon appearance upon being brought into Genessia.

What is the character's medical condition?

No restrictions. We've had Transformers here before. Just be aware that it might be a little more difficult. (Details under "Getting Started," fourth question.)

Okay, in one previous game, all the toons who dropped in had a tiny chip implant in their body somewhere to suppress any powers/abilities. If and when removed, the toon would be ill for a week, like worst hangover ever!

Question.

If I ever decide to do an update, memories from that previous game, would she have that chip inside her? She doesn't have any powers. If so, would she experience the side effect once removed?

What's the rule on learning magic from other characters? Does a character have to have magic exist in their world in order to learn it at all? If it IS possible to be taught, are there any limits or guidelines regarding how long it takes and what kinds of spells they can learn?

Magic has to exist in a character's world and they have to be capable of learning it.

If a character goes for a canon update and the abilities they originally have changed during the update to the new canon point, do the abilities change on the person in the dream dock? Or can they still retain the abilities they originally have in the game?

For example, Rapunzel in canon lost her ability to heal, but in the TV series gained another ability that makes her hair as hard as the hardest metal. So if I canon updated her to the series would she lose her healing ability she has now or would there be a choice?
