CLOSED EVENT GRID

Pick one square that hasn't already been selected by another player. Try to ctrl-F your guess on the page to check if other comments have already had your number, though Tay will alert you if it is a duplicate and allow you to guess again but appreciates you checking first. The squares are formatted with a letter and number, so please include both, and reply with your choice in response to this post. The mod journal will reply with whether you hit a prize or not and what that prize is, then in 3 days an updated grid will be posted and you will be able to make your second guess (with both color and X's and O's for "hits" and "misses" to help people with visual needs).
If you have any questions, PLEASE ask them on the main event post where indicated as this post is strictly for grid entries.
This grid is no longer active. Please proceed to part two.

Genessia and its cities are composed of vast areas, most of which are uncharted except in the main city. Though there are some areas that will require special items to reach (some of which can be found by searching other areas or using information gained in other searches), most areas simply haven't been discovered yet!
There are a few rules to doing search requests that you will have to abide by, but otherwise, this post is a nifty way for players to request information about searches their characters perform in game.
OKAY OKAY, I agree, take me to the form already!!
There are a few rules to doing search requests that you will have to abide by, but otherwise, this post is a nifty way for players to request information about searches their characters perform in game.
- 1. Players may request one search per month, but may participate in other characters' searches in between..
There are over 100 players in this game as we open this option and your mods are only human. If we see that there's not much interest/usage, we may increase the number players may do so that those who are interested can get more out of it but in the beginning stages of this new function, we appreciate your understanding. If you are interested in being very active with searches and have already requested your own for the month, you are welcome to participate in searches that other players have requested if you ask their permission and plot with them first.
2. Certain superpowers or abilities may have an effect on the search, either positively or negatively.
For example, if they are using super speed, they'll be less likely to find small things like special items that may be required for other search requests because they aren't performing as in depth of a search. If they have super strength, they may be more capable of moving a large rock that would take 6 people to find a cave to a secret waterfall. If you're a professional camper/outdoorsman, you'll be more likely to find something than someone who spends all day playing video games. Having no special abilities won't negatively affect searches, but having teams will. If you have 2 or more people involved in your search, you will be more likely to find something.
3. All searches require a log or related post.
If you try to request a search and cannot provide a link to your previous search's activity, you may be denied your search request. This is for fairness to all players who perform searches- there is a chance of plot information being found, special items, and other things and we want to make sure that people who put in the effort are rewarded. You don't have to do a log if you don't want to, but you should at least make a network post like "LOOK AT THIS HELLA BURIED TREASURE I FOUND WHAAAT" but, you know, IC.
4. Let us know if you or your character is not interested in finding plot-related information.
We know not everyone wants to get involved with the overarching plot, but may still want adventure, cool treasure, fights, or just to have fun. That's fine! But please don't say that you want to be involved in plot-related things if you have no intention of sharing information found with others or your character is likely to just throw something important on the ground and walk away from it. This helps us make sure everyone is getting the most out of their search requests and events without taking anything away from either those who want plot or those who don't, so we appreciate your cooperation!
5. Understand that whether or not you find something is determined by a Random Number Generator and the odds of success may be altered based on your responses in your Search Request Form.
However, there are set odds available based on different scenarios. If your character brings something to the table we didn't account for, this table will be updated. Note that omniscience/omnipotence will not have an effect on the RNG for fairness's sake.
Standard Search: 1 of 7What type of event will be determined by the moderator and should be informed by the information you fill out in your form. If you don't find anything of note, moderators may still provide information about something that could be found there or clues to another location or event.
Team Search: 1 of 3
Search with Powers that may increase chance of event (telepaths may detect people more, dowsing can lead people in better directions, breathing underwater may increase underwater searches, positive luck-related powers, etc.): 1 of 4
Search with Powers that may increase search range, but decrease depth of search (using magic to look ahead in a path may get you to where you want to go but may cause you to miss things you aren't looking for, super speed, etc.): 1 of 5
Specialized Equipment to Increase Search Potential: 1 of 5
Combination of Increased Event Powers/Equipment and Team Search: 1 of 2
6. Though some searches may trigger events, others you may just find special items or cool architecture and you're free to do what you want with it.
Just remember that if you destroy something, actions have consequences. Don't have your character destroy an ancient monument if you don't want the local historical society pitching a publicity nightmare. Don't send a meteor down on a forest in a fight against a monster unless you're ready to accept that the escaping animals have to go somewhere. However, if you destroy an evil demon temple and save the world from its planned apocalypse, you might get some good karma rolling around your way. Consequences can be negative or positive, but they are there.
7. There are no "re-rolls" on finds.
If you find something, that's your find. What your character does with it from there is up to you, but you don't get to re-roll if you're not interested. However, if you don't want to do anything with it, you may choose to pass the find on to someone else who is. But once something is revealed, it's revealed.
8. You may request your find not to contain certain types of content you may be sensitive to.
If you aren't interested in having your character deal with death or spiders or swimming pools or whatever it is you or they are afraid of, feel free to note it in your form. We don't want to make you uncomfortable, and search requests may result in all kinds of scenarios just like real history. But please be reasonable. If you want to search Everglade and say no horror, you might end up with your character finding a penny on the ground for the sass. Not even a cool penny worth a bunch of money because it's rare, just some regular-ass lame penny.
9. Fill out the form completely and in short sentences.
We love that you are enthusiastic about your characters, but if in trying to describe "psychic powers" you give us a multi-paragraph thesis, we are not going to count your powers for your search odds. Clarity and conciseness will take you far in life.

After you've decided what you want your character to do, you'll need to let the moderators know what position you want your character to have in game. For new businesses and requests to be added as an owner/manager or deputy guardian, your character doesn't start working until your comment has been approved by a moderator. It is typically done at least once a week, so please notify a moderator if it's been over 7 days since you've submitted your request as it may have accidentally been missed. (We're only human, try as we might to make no mistakes!)

So your character isn't a law-abiding citizen. They weren't back home and they aren't going to be here, or maybe they were back home and their life has taken a darker turn during their time in Genessia. Either way, there's a criminal justice system in Genessia so there must be criminals, right? Right. There are a few things you need to know about signing you character up as a criminal for their profession first though, as it is a more unique path than regular careers.
What kind of criminal can my character be?
Any kind of criminal that makes money is applicable as a job, be they a pickpocket or a mafia don. You should only register them as a career criminal if this is their primary source of income. If they rob a convenience store as a one-time event, that would not be considered sustainable income and should not be noted on the employment list. It should be noted that the bigger the criminal and the more money they make, the more likely they are to get on the radar of someone within the justice system.
How is how much money my character will make as a criminal determined?
This largely depends on how proficient they are at doing what they do, or how highly their skills are valued by other criminals who would hire them. If your character is a thief with a canon status as a master thief, never been caught, super notorious with a mask and everything blahblah they will make a higher amount than someone who is a beginner and just got talked into it by their friend Bob who really wants to start doing bank heists GTA-style. How loud they are about their position and how large their empire is may also have an influence on whether or not they're likely to attract attention, which may affect pay if they're not willing to commit to that risk and so on. As such, how much money a particular criminal may make is a largely case-by-case endeavor.
Can my character run a criminal enterprise across multiple cities?
Absolutely. It may take additional time to gather conspirators, thugs, assassins, etc. depending on what kind of empire you're building, so take the time to enjoy building it up. Rob some stores for start-up revenue, make deals with thieves to steal tech and weapons, have an evil job fair... Really, the more creativity you're willing to invest, the more fun you'll have.
Can my character get away with everything ever and never get in trouble?
No, and playing in this manner will generally result in fewer people willing to play with you if they can't get some form of closure for their character, or if repeated failings makes their heroic character seem incompetent. In fact, if your character does something actively noticeable, you may be contacted by the player of a City Guardian or have a bounty placed on your character after OOC communication. (You should always be asked first before another person puts a bounty on your character. If ever that doesn't happen, notify a moderator immediately for intervention.) But really you should be contacting a guardian regardless if you're pulling off bank robberies in their city.
If you refuse to yield or cooperate and work together to come to a decision, a moderator may be notified or intervene if they see this occurring themselves and make an unbiased decision. This goes for both sides of this. Just because your good guy is super mega-powered doesn't mean they automatically get to topple a criminal empire.
What happens if/when my character gets caught?
They go to jail, most likely! Though there are individually different processes in each city (please read the FAQ's Criminal Justice section), the end result will typically be a jail sentence. The length of that sentence will be based on the crime, the city's policies about the crime in question, and the City Guardian's decision. Though the City Guardian can make recommendations about sentences, it will be submitted to a judge ICly and changes may be made if the moderator deems a sentence excessive.
That said, in order to maintain playability, characters will still have access to their devices in jail. The caveat to that is that their private messaging will be disabled, so all conversations must be publicly accessible while they are incarcerated.
How do I get my character out of jail?
The character can either serve their sentence or contact the Guardian of that facility to plot out a jail break. With the arrival of Somorrah, your character may also teleport themselves directly to that city the moment they walk through a door.
Do the good guys always win?
Nope! If your character is careful and doesn't draw attention to themselves, there's a chance they will never get caught. If they are caught and come to confrontation, they can still win based on OOC communication and reasonable comparison of abilities, connections, and strategy (power doesn't automatically win over careful planning all the time!). That said, if your character comes to a confrontation then lays low they are much less likely to get caught than if they keep harassing everyone and causing problems. If you keep doing the second one openly, yeah, eventually someone is going to be able to stand up to them. However, talk to a mod about it! If your character wants to conquer Fayren and become the new king, it's entirely possible and feasible- but you've got to discuss it first!
I play a criminal but I have OOC problems with one of the players who plays a City Guardian and do not want to exacerbate any problems. What do I do?
We recommend finding an IC excuse for your character to move to a different city. No character is glued to one specific city and your excuse can be anything from 'it smells weird there' to them having pissed off a jewelry store owner who blacklisted them and now they won't serve them in that city. We appreciate you trying to avoid starting something, though if there is a problem that arises, feel free to contact a moderator in order to sort something out between both parties.
My criminal is extremely content warning heavy. Do I need to note that anywhere?
You can state your criminal's general rating level on Somorrah's ratings page, and it's recommended to lock graphic content with plenty of warnings when posting your character in a log or starting up a thread. Exercise your communication skills wisely, and you shouldn't have any big issues.

Bounting hunting is one of the most popular ways to help out around the cities. While the City Guardians are in charge of leading the criminal justice and public protection systems, the large number of skilled combatants from various worlds makes it easier to delegate collection work of certain criminals to the public. In addition to keeping normally action-oriented citizens combat ready for emergencies, it also helps to make sure that no city is overrun with dangerous elements.
That said, bounty hunting is a largely commission-based form of income. While registering for a long-term bounty hunting position with the bounty board can get you a set number of income, doing spontaneous bounties from the newspaper is not considered sustainable income. Because of this, you cannot use single bounty incidences to pay for ongoing payments such as housing unless you are registered with the Bounty Board.
Bounty Hunting: The Newspaper
Every newspaper, there is a minimum of one bounty posted per city. The bounties in the newspaper are first come, first served. For every three bounties your character completes, they must have at least one log posted for the bounties (up to 2/3 can be handwaved). Because of the limited number of bounties, it's encouraged that characters team up with other characters in order to maximize thread enjoyment and encourage CR. Bounty levels are equivalent to * levels in payment for one month. (So if you complete a */level 1 bounty, that's like performing a * job for a whole month.)
Because bounties are limited in number each week, a player may only claim a single bounty per paper regardless of how many characters they may play. Any bounties that are left over will be rolled over to the next bi-weekly paper.
Bounties are up to the players to play out unless explicitly stated otherwise. What is listed on the bounty is what the character can expect, with occasional exceptions which will be noted. If you have an idea for a plot to extend from a bounty, you may request it on the plot requests page but until it is approved, you may not assume that bounties have any extraordinary items or gains that are not listed in the original bounty posting. Not all bounties are going to have super awesome items so this will be on a limited and case-by-case basis. It should also be noted that unless your character is stealing from the authorities, all evidence is supposed to be turned over with the criminal. Taking items involved in the crime is a crime! There are ways around this but if your character would like to do anything with special items from bounties, please make a note of it when staking your claim.
Bounty Board
The Beacon Bounty Board is a character-run board system similar to mark/bounty hunting/wanted criminal boards in video games, but also includes odd-jobs that NPCs might need around the cities. Though you do get paid a small minimum at the beginner level, after a certain amount of time you become registered as an Elite Bounty Hunter and the base pay rises. In order to receive the pay increase, you are responsible for commenting the employment page to change your position to Elite. In addition to the base pay, your character can also receive commission pay if they complete actual jobs listed on the bounty board's pages. Currently no one is maintaining the all-inclusive bounty board, so in the meantime you're free to make up your own bounties and for-hire jobs.
Registering wth the Bounty Board
It's as simple as asking to be registered on the employment request form. Regardless of previous skills and off-world assignments, all registrants begin at the basic level with the ability to work up to something better. Registering with the board guarantees your character a certain level payment every month. Think of it this way, by registering with the board prospective employers can view your character's information and request them specifically if they want (handwaved). Characters build a reputation and get tapped for more and more jobs, even if you don't actively submit a form for them to get one. They can still take a job or bounty as they would normally.
When you register, there are three levels.
Basic: The level everyone starts out at. You get a 1 * payment for being at this level.
Gold: After your character has completed 5 jobs, they can get an upgrade to this level. They get a 2 * payment for being at this level.
Elite: After your character has completed 10 jobs while being at the Gold Status level, they can upgrade to this level. They receive a 3 * payment for being at this level.
Do I have to be registered with the board to take jobs?
No you do not! The jobs are open to mostly anyone that wants to take them.
How many Bounties and Temp jobs can I take from the Bounty Board?
One bounty a week, just to give other players a chance to take one too if they really want. Most temp jobs will last for about that long unless stated otherwise.
How does this all work ICly?
Characters can approach a bounty board in any city to get information on the current bounty listings. The board has a built in A.I. that will speak with the characters if they address the board directly, though the board can be used simply by touching and scrolling too.
To accept a bounty, the character will need to give their name so the system can register the job under their ID and prevent other characters from snagging the same assignment (though this can happen sometimes). When the character has accepted a bounty or job, it will give them the location or contact information of the person that posted it so they can get in touch with them.
Are the boards run by in-game NPCS?
Currently, yes. They were originally established by Sun Wukong. The position of guild/board leader may be filled by another character during the course of the game, in which case there may be changes to the way the Bounty Board is handled.

You may have noticed by now that we do not use a real-life currency system in Genessia for money. Money in Genessia expressed through level values expressed as asterisks (*) and the IC currency is referred to as Red Bills. You may be confused as to why there are two ways of expressing this in game, but the answer is simple: The moderators are not accountants or bankers and do not wish to keep track of actual monetary value, so for OOC reasons it's a basic * system. If your character meets the minimum * amount based on OOC notes, then they can afford the matching housing typically. For IC reasons, characters may refer to the amounts as red bills though, and individualized amounts within game may be converted from USD to red bills with ease.
Red bills = 1.5 x USD
The exact amount was developed after in-game use for some time and was chosen based on in-game purchase amounts for certain items. We did our best to find the easiest equivalency and make it simple to understand. OOCly, there are 5 basic levels of employment. For ease and to save you the trouble of doing math, here is a * equivalency list:
* = 1000 red bills = $1500/mo.
** = 2000 red bills = $3000/mo.
*** = 3000 red bills = $4500/mo.
**** = 4000 red bills = $6000/mo.
***** = 5000 red bills = $7500/mo. or more
Because jobs are so easy to get in Genessia, there is no unemployment available. However, new arrivals are given a starter pack that contains 5,000 red bills to get them started and that housing is covered in the Genessia Commons for their first month of arrival.
What jobs pay how much?
The pay a job earns is largely based on how valuable that job is to society. Teachers, doctors, and Guardians are examples of top-end paying jobs, due to how much they help people. Technicians and public maintenance workers, like janitors, earn a mid-range salary, while jobs that are typically for entertainment value only like sports stars receive very little pay. But as pendant users have increased in population, and with NPCs able to retain more memories than they did initially, celebrities with higher salaries are starting to become more common and are sought after by large businesses to promote their products and services.

Freelancing/Unrepresented and Commission-based Employment
Freelancing/unrepresented employment jobs will see a decrease in pay from the usual amount of the position due to lack of clientele. A business pulls in more clients than an individual working out of their apartment. It is for this reason that this type of employment makes * for *** or less and ** for ****+ positions. If your character is only doing on-commission income such as bounties, unless they are registered with the bounty board they cannot claim that as their steady income. Though they may use it in-game for whatever IC purchases they might want to make, for OOC purposes it will not apply to ongoing payments like housing.

* = 1000 red bills = $1500/mo.

Characters can own businesses with relative ease in
genessia! Business owners earn an automatic **** and can request whatever positions they believe they need for their establishment within reason. A moderator may state that a starting business doesn't need 10 security guards if they're a bookshop, for example, whereas a bank might need a more significant number, but for the most part it's up to you. However, the amount of money those positions make is set for the sanity of the moderators, so while you may request positions you cannot choose to pay them more/less outside of the set levels as described on the Money/Pay page.
That said, that's not where it ends unless you want it to. Characters may open multiple branches of their store, multiple types of stores, non-profit organizations, and build up to large businesses if they so wish.
Small Businesses
This is the standard type of business for one or two branch businesses. If your character has one singular store, they will earn ****. This first branch must run for at least three months before a second branch can be added. If your character has two stores, they will need an overall business name (please include when you apply for it or one will be generated for you until you change it.) Anything more than one store will earn ***** income, and you may consider your character sufficiently wealthy so long as they're actually doing their job. Unless your store(s) have extremely limited hours, it will be a lot of work for them to run so please don't assume that they can ICly run off and do whatever they want all the time.
Large Businesses
After another three months, characters may choose to expand into a large business. Any business with more than two branches/stores is considered a large business and must open a headquarters and hire branch managers for each location. Once you've done this, your character is considered a "Large Business CEO" from here on out.
At four or more stores, characters can no longer sustain other jobs without having a Vice President for their company who will take the brunt of the work. However, if they dedicate themselves to their business and don't split their attentions between other jobs, they do not need to hire a VP.
Non-Profit Organizations
Non-profit organizations are charity organizations and are run either on private funds or donations. Most volunteer positions merit * levels of payments or none at all, but if they're passionate about what they're doing and providing a valuable service, the city may fund them anyway to make sure the character can support themselves and afford necessary supplies. If your character accepts, they can choose a payment equal to a similar sort of job on the pay scale page, or less.
Split-Ownership
Some characters like to share ownership of businesses (have two owners) and this is perfectly fine! However, your business is not making double what it would so they cannot have full pay as owners. Because there is more attention paid to the business it can be slightly more successful, so the ownership total income split evenly means *** for each co-owner. If you would like an uneven split, please let a moderator know with your business application.
Publicly-Owned Businesses/The Stock Market
No. Like legit no one has time to run this please do not, go get rich the other way.

You want to be famous? You want to be a ~STAR~? It's entirely possible! In fact, the rules for becoming a celebrity are pretty straight forward:
1. If a character has celebrity status in canon, they have the right to it in Genessia. They already know how to work the system to get there. If they are a freelance celebrity, they max out at *** (and even then it's rare, as most people don't consider celebrities particularly useful to society). It's recommended they find a talent agency (Fama Talent Agency is the foremost in game and books out to all cities.)
2. If your character is not a celebrity in canon, they can still be performers for * regardless of whether they have a talent agency or not. However, if they do have a talent agency they have a chance to become a celebrity in the future.
How does a talent agency work?
By working for a talent agency, your character essentially has an NPC (or player character if you plot it out with a player working as a talent agent) who helps get them gigs and increase the attention to your character.
If your character is a non-celebrity, or in the agency's terms "Upcoming Talent," then your character essentially gets to play a waiting-and-randomization game. This is what any non-canon celebrities will be. If they maintain this status for at least 4 months they have a chance of being "discovered" and moved up to celebrity status.
Is it possible to make more than **** as a celebrity?
If your character makes appearances at three logged events, you can add * to your overall celebrity status. It is your responsibility to notify moderators of an increase in celebrity status by commenting on the employment page with the link to three public events (parties, contests, tv series, fundraisers, etc.- not emergency/save the day events) in which you participated as a celebrity (must have at least 10 comments on the log to count- no time limit for how long it takes). As this is based on participation and activity, there is no upper limit.
Can my character lose celebrity status?
If you do not have at least one post (not just comments) during an ACI period, you will lose any additional income over the base ****. Being a celebrity is all about being in the public eye, you've got to have at least something beyond comments/threads if you want to keep raking in the dough for it. It will be automatic, so make sure you tag your posts as you make them!

There are very few positions that are locked to elections only in
genessia, the most noteable of which are the City Guardian positions. City Guardians are publicly elected "lead protectors" of the cities, essentially. Their job is to protect the cities (not rule/run them) and direct other criminal justice bodies, their own deputy team, and other protection-related roles in the city. Whether or not they do this well or to the preference of the citizens is entirely dependent on the characters playing them. Elections are held every six months in June and December, Guardian terms are January-June and July-December. Each Guardian may select up to two of their five deputies with the rest being open to hire on a first-come first-served basis, and Guardians under no obligation to keep any deputies from previous Guardian teams on theirs. Guardians are paid five-star salaries while deputies receive four.

Welcome to the new and improved employment section! Your character needs to have a job of some kind in Genessia to support themselves. There are loads of jobs available of every type imaginable, so even if you don't see your specific preference on the list, feel free to apply for a position. Though moderators may make adjustments based on the setting or mechanics, you will be notified if this is the case before your employment decision is set in stone.
FIRST, SOME IMPORTANT NOTES:
Your character must have a steady source of income in order to maintain Housing, especially if they're not living in one of the free apartments. While commissions/individual bounty hunts may provide some income, it's not considered a steady stream to maintain housing payments.
Some jobs pay more than others, but essentially every job has a base livable income. Your character does not need 3 jobs to support themselves and doing so may interfere with their lives ICly. We do not recommend having your character have multiple jobs unless they are part-time or your character is canonically a workaholic. Full-time jobs are 40 hours a week, please remember that most characters do not have infinite time/energy when selecting jobs.
Characters can have essentially any job they want unless it is a character-run business, they are woefully underqualified (ex: Homer Simpson cannot be a medical doctor), or it is an election-only position.

REQUIREMENTS TO REQUEST A WISH:
4 charms of any type
You can have multiples of the same charm.
If you use multiples of the same charm, there may be limitations to its capabilities. For example, using 4 Attleton charms would make it impossible to ask for magic as a wish. Using two Fayren and two Nova City would have trouble bringing mundane items to the world like photographs or pets. Having 4 different charms would give you the most power with wishes. Genessia Charms are like wild cards, so they count for whatever you need.
To claim a wish, reply to this post after verifying that all of your charms are listed on the charms spreadsheet. If your charms are not on the spreadsheet (perhaps you didn't claim them when the spreadsheet came up or maybe a mod screwed up, it's entirely possible- both you and I are human beings we make mistakes), you'll need to include links to the charm events your character received a charm from in order to receive the wish.
Four charms can be used for a singular wish. One sacrifice regain is one wish. (You cannot ask to regain all sacrifices.) You must receive mod approval before assuming your character's wish came through.
You can't wish for charms, nor can you wish for anything that the central force behind Genessia does not want you to have, though such things are few and far between. Wishing for a city to be destroyed or the planet to blow up isn't going to happen; neither is wishing for people to no longer arrive or depart. Any of these things will be met with a flat and IC 'No. Pick something else.' OOCly, don't wish for anything that would affect another player's character unless you have their OOC permission to do so. Even if you have IC motivation, you still MUST have the player's express consent. You also can't wish for more wishes. All wishes must be approved by a moderator before they can be ICly enacted. You also cannot wish to open archways that do not belong to your character's canon.

How does my character ICly request anything?
Each character's communication device contains a contact link with the CPU of Genessia City, which can convey requests for additional amenities, buildings, subarchways, jobs, etc. A character need simply ask for what they desire (although the CPU may decline a request). Information is also ICly available by posting and making a request to other characters.
What the hell is up with that Paperboy?
The Paperboy is a way to keep tabs on what's happening in the game, usually through sarcastic articles and weather reports. It costs two dollars a month to subscribe -- just idly wishing you had a newspaper or a way to refer to a news source in any way is enough to get you signed up on the list. At the top of each newspaper delivery post is a list of people randomly selected to (possibly) have their windows broken by a flung newspaper. If you do not wish this to affect your character, you are welcome to ignore your character's name being listed.
Can I kill the Paperboy?
Sure, you sick psychopathic child murderer. He dies surprisingly easily, as even sprinklers can be lethal to him! But he always comes back, and he'll probably charge you extra for killing him.
My character broke their communicator. Will it fix itself?
No, you have to pay for new ones out of pocket. Communicators are sold in both Genessia City and Nova City.
Can my character bring their Pokemon from their previous game or canon?
Pokeballs are small enough to fit on your character, so go for it.
Can we have another Pokemon event?
Pokemon-related events have proven to be popular, so on average one shows up every year. If you missed it, you'll just have to wait for the next one.
My character had to have some kind of surgery while in the game. What are the recovery and rehabilitation details?
It will take the same as in real world / relative canon unless she received help from other worlds' healing methods- of which there are plenty in Genessia, whether it be through technology, magic, bending, or some other form of healing from other worlds. Nova City also has much more advanced medical technology than the other areas, so it really depends on where the medical procedure takes place.
Are there video games, TV shows, movies, etc. available in game?
Sure thing! Just be aware of 4th wall rules.
What's with the rumors that get posted every so often?
Every town has gossip! These ones will be about player characters in the game and are typically just random stuff, though occasionally true ones will crop up just to keep it fresh. We don't have a way for players to submit their own rumors yet, but please look forward to it as a potential future feature.

I want to canon update my character. How do I do this?
Your character must ICly go to the Dream Dock. They will sleep for 3 days and regain memories of their time there. This can also work for "game updates" if they are a game-port character and, more recently, to update characters' memories to include in-canon alternate universes and multiple CRAUs at the same time upon moderator approval. To get moderator approval and read more about this option, click here.
What if my character dies or is injured during their canon update and I want them to have the injury?
Because the character is dreaming, they should normally not sustain injuries or die from being at the Dream Dock. However, if your character loses an arm during a canon update (especially if you play from an ongoing canon) and you would like your character to not have that arm, you have the option of your character waking up with that specific injury. The Dream Dock technicians will be at a loss to explain how it happened, since it seems to occur instantaneously seconds before the character awakens.
Can I update my character's CRAU memories as if it were a canon update?
If you are currently playing a character in a game and game-import them into Genessia, yes. It would be the same process as a canon update.

What's a City Guardian?
A City Guardian is a special position that must be earned both ICly and OOCly. This character is in charge of protecting a city from threats, both internal and external, and keeping the peace. Note that morality has nothing to do with it; an antagonist can be a City Guardian the same as a protagonist can. A nomination and campaign period will last 1.5 to 2 weeks during which any character that ICly demonstrates his or her willingness to take on such a role will be considered. This will be followed by an OOC poll to determine which character should receive the job (assuming any others wish to run). If only one character/player is interested for the City Guardian position in a specific city, a poll will not be necessary and the character will win the election by default.
Elections will be held in June and December. If the player of a City Guardian drops and there are 3 months or more left, an emergency election may be held. If there are less than 3 months, a Deputy Guardian may take over duties temporarily until the next election.
OOCly, a City Guardian is expected to be at least moderately active due to their higher level of involvement with the city, and is expected to make at least one post to the IC community every other month, preferably more frequently than that, and still comment other characters in between. The player of a City Guardian is also asked to come up with at least one (and hopefully more!) city-wide event during their six-month term to encourage more RP opportunities, as well as submit 1-10 bounty hunting hooks each month to be used in the bi-weekly newspaper (bounty hunts do not have to be moderated by the guardian, but we happily encourage this if the guardian player is up to the task). Failure to do so may result in a loss of the job, which will be offered to the public once more, and they may not be re-elected during the next election. A city guardian may personally select up to two "Deputy Guardians" to support them; a poll is not necessary for these assistant positions, as anyone may apply ICly for the job and the guardian is responsible for deciding who to accept and who to reject. They may also personally choose one executive assistant to handle more mundane affairs such as paperwork, media relations, and keeping the office stocked with coffee. The other three deputy spots will be open to the public and filled on a first-come first-served basis. Please also note a few additional guidelines regarding elections for City Guardians:
ICly, government leaders are responsible for implementing, revising, and disposing of laws. They are also the go-to person for city and community issues, such as sponsorship of fundraising, gathering volunteers for special projects, and keeping citizens informed. Guardians are responsible for keeping people safe. There is some overlap between the two, and the positions can work in perfect harmony if both characters are agreeable. If the players are both on board, however, there can be plenty of conflict and strife with a city guardian trying to mitigate a government leader's weird or selfish laws.
OOCly, government leaders and guardians will be able to work closely with the mod team when brainstorming events, and the mods will typically ask for volunteers if a certain event will affect only one or two cities. Guardians will typically be in a good position to defend other characters in the case of an emergency and (as long as they're willing to take the proper initiative) be exposed to more action-oriented RP hooks, and both types of roles are likely to be considered for important roles in future events.
How does the Genessia criminal justice system work? Like, do the subarchways have their own systems or is it all central? Do they have the death penalty?
Each archway has its own system! See below:
Genessia: There is currently a police force and jail, in addition to a superpowered jail for high priority and supernaturally dangerous criminals. Officers will enforce the laws under the leadership of the City Guardian. Whether the Death Penalty is allowed or not is up to the current Government Leader.
Attleton: This is a Citizen's Arrest! Attleton is largely run by the Neighborhood Watch, which is probably why there's a lot of street crime, but there isn't much in the way of a real police force here. NPC citizens will definitely come try to interfere if they can. Capital punishment is not legal in Attleton.
Everglade: Think old fashioned Scotland Yard-style police force. They will look for evidence, but since there's a lot of mystical stuff here, it's a little difficult sometimes. They may also consult psychics for testimony and mediums to ask the dead to give their testimony in court. The death penalty may be decided upon in court, but it's unlikely and only after a loooong jail sentence. Unfortunately, they don't have a 'Sherlock' so unless the City Guardian is busy, most of the large cases are left to the City Guardian's discretion or bounty hunters.
Fayren: Knights and guards focus on defending more important areas/objects/events and will step in if they see something going on in front of them, but overall? It's the City Guardian's job to protect the citizens themselves. There is a court if a person is caught, but it isn't exactly fair and most of the evidence is based on hearsay, rather than actual quantifiable data. There's no set standard for punishment, so depending on who you pissed off, it could be anything from being put in the stocks for a day to being executed by hanging or other medieval-style death. City Guardians may suggest punishments, however, and these suggestions are typically yielded to unless the person your character pissed off specifically was in the courts of royalty.
Nova City: There is a Robopolice force in addition to whatever force the City Guardian brings. Nova City is fairly self-sustaining when it comes to local authorities, many of the forms of security in the area being mechanical in nature. There are, of course, plenty of criminals that find ways around this. It's never a dull job, and if you've got a know-how with tech, it could definitely give you the edge in Nova City. Capital punishment is currently outlawed in Nova City. However, if a security/police robot catches you in the act, they will attempt to stop you and do not typically hold back those resisting arrest. As of September 2016, Nova City requires bounty hunters to hold a license to prevent wanton cruelty and severe property damage. The city is also broken up into security sectors to improve safety.
There are bounties in the newspaper. What's the deal with them?
Bounties are tasks your character can complete that count as bonuses to your character's income that last for a while depending on how big of a bounty it is. Basically, add an extra star onto your character's income as a "boost" for that month. (Information about income is available on the employment page.) A bounty's worth will be listed typially from 1-4 * point values (and sometimes more) and be equivalent to a month's salary at the corresponding level.
A player will be allowed to claim bounties and handwave most of them, but for every 3 claims they need to have at least 1 log posted. To claim a bounty, reply to the most current newspaper post that it was listed in. This needs to be done whether a log is attached or not.
My character broke the law and went to jail. I'm fine with accepting IC consequences, but what now? This is boring.
Worry not! If your character is a villain and still has access to their pendant, they can escape to Somorrah by concentrating and walking through any door, so that bathroom break can double as a flight to sweet freedom. You can also arrange jailbreaks with other characters, and working things out with the guardian and deputy players. If all else fails (i.e. they don't have a pendant, the players are being hardheaded about your character being active again), the pendant will be mysteriously returned to them after 1-2 weeks, and the character can close their eyes and *think* about stepping through a door to be teleported to Somorrah. If your character is jailed and not a villain, then arrangements should be made OOCly for your character's escape with other relevant players.
- •If a City Guardian candidate does not participate in any part of the election process beyond declaring that they are running, their name will be removed from the polls. Moderators will check before the poll is posted to confirm.
•If for whatever reason a candidate is declared the winner of the poll and then decides to drop or concede, the next runner up will be named as long as it is within 2 weeks of the poll's close.
•If no candidate runs for a position, the current City Guardian will be asked to continue their position until the next election. If the current City Guardian declines, the position will be offered to their first hired, currently working deputy, then to their second deputy. If all parties decline, the election nomination process will be reopened solely for the city in question.

How does money work in Genessia?
The monetary system in Genessia consists of a currency called Red Bills. There are varying denominations of this bill and for the sake of the OOC portions of the game like the employment and housing pages, we use pay levels indicated with asterisks (*) to show how much a person would make from a job. It makes the math easier. There is more information about the conversion values here so you can know how much the pay levels are worth and have a starting-point if you want to know how much money your character is spending. The post is in USD, so you may need to convert USD to your currency before converting to red bills. Keep in mind that asterisks are purely meant for estimation purposes, and are not a concrete measurement. A doctor and a guardian won't have exactly the same paycheck despite both having 5-star jobs, but it'll be close and they'll be able to afford a similar lifestyle with their income.
How does my character apply for a job?
ICly, they go to the job center and fill out an application. The applications are fairly simple, requesting little more than a name and previous qualifications. If they're qualified, bam, they have the job! The exception to this guideline are City Guardians and Government Leaders: there can only be one for each city and this is a position that must be won by election.
OOCly, you need to comment to THIS POST by following the instructions listed.
If my character has a house, then loses housemates and/or gets a lower-income job, do they lose their house?
No, but they might have difficulty with the upkeep required. A big fancy mansion will likely get dusty with overgrown shrubs and grass if you can't afford to have someone take care of it. You can play this out if you wish, as it might make for some interesting and light-hearted RP.
My character is capable of building their own place to reside. May they and will there be any costs to do so?
It depends on the location and the cost of materials. Cities like Nova City and Attleton may have certain building restrictions and taxes, while going to Fayren and making your very own wood cabin will only require materials and a decent amount of space. In short, your character's income and skill level should match up to what you want to do.
I play a child character and they have no one to take care of them. Is there a local area where child guardians are present?
There aren't any mod-run NPCs who take on guardian roles for kids. However, other players may have characters that will do just that, or you can choose to NPC a person in town to help them out for purposes of getting settled. Other alternatives would be to randomize your housing to latch onto a roommate (with the player's permission) or to create a business that specializes in foster child care.
The job I want for my character isn't listed and I don't want them to start a business. Help!
You don't have to start a business, just comment to the employment page with the form and make up a name for a business (or if it already exists in game but isn't on the employment page, it's probably because we were trying to save space). Feel free to have your character do any job they please. You can also request to have the business added to the setting page, just make a note on the form that this is what you want to do.

What is a Charm Quest?
A charm quest is essentially a small event in which characters participate and may receive a reward for doing so. Many charm quests will have multiple winners, though some will only have one or two. The point of charm quests is to gather charms, which can be exchanged for wishes.
What do the charms look like?
Charms appear to be very literal charms that fit on the chain of the pendant each character receives. There are four spots for charms on the pendant's chain. Each charm will take the shape of something relating to the event they are relating to. For example, if a character received a charm in the Nova City Shut Down event, since it dealt with electricity, the character would receive a small lightning bolt shaped charm. It emits a faint warmth upon touch and when four charms are connected to the necklace, it will glow dimly the same color as the owner's pendant. When the charms glow, that means they are ready to be traded in for a wish. Each charm connects to the necklace and can only be removed by the owner of the pendant it is connected to.
How many charms does my character need to make a wish and do they need to be different kinds?
Your character needs four charms to make a wish, but they do not have to all be different charms. If all four are different charms, your character has no limit on their wishes other than what is listed in the "What can my character not wish for?" section. If you are unsure, please ask a moderator.
What can my character wish for?
Just about anything. Possessions from their home world, large pets, memories or anything they sacrificed to either open an archway or revive from death, a new pony, a piece of chocolate-- it's up to the character, as long as it isn't listed just below in the "What can my character not wish for?" section.
What can my character not wish for?
My character gave up a memory, how can they wish for something they don't remember having?
The character might not retain the memory any longer, but they will be aware that they gave up something important. They just have to wish to regain that something, nebulous as it might be.
How do I make a wish?
Events will be held that will offer a prize of at least one charm from one of the four outlying cities. Other prizes, such as money or items, may also be awarded to runners-up. By collecting one full set of charms, the set may be exchanged for one wish. The event varies: it may be a contest, a trial to see who best embodies a desired quality or trait, or a charm might even be given to someone who performs a great service. The terms of winning a charm may or may not be stated explicitly -- the only way to have a decent shot is to participate in the event. Player-run events may also yield charms if the player running the event requests it from a moderator and the chances of winning during the event are open to everyone, not just a small group of characters.
Can my character give charms to another character?
Charms do not transfer from player to player of the same character upon drop. (Ex: Player Bella plays Emma Swan and gets a Fayren Charm, then drops. When Player Nomad4Lyfe picks up Emma Swan, Nomad4Lyfe's Emma does not have a Fayren Charm. Additionally, charms can also not be transferred from character to character if they have the same player or be given from Character A (player 1) to Character B (player 2) then to Character C (player 1 again). Not cool, follow the rules and stop trying to find loopholes. However, if your character just wants to give it as a gift to another character in the game, that's totally acceptable. It's theirs to do with as they wish. This also means that they can be stolen, so please be careful with your charms!
What if I don't want my character to participate in an event?
All events (and charm quests) are completely optional. If a player-run event takes up an entire archway, it needs to be run by the moderators with available opt-out options because it will inevitably affect a large number of players. If there's an "everyone turns into a puppy omfg" event, it's entirely possible that your character got skipped for unspecified reasons. If you need an IC excuse, then being in a subarchway or the Bay or any other mystical place may or may not have provided event protection when the changes took effect.
Who has charms?
Check it out.
My character has four charms. How do I claim a wish for them?
Reply here after verifying that all of your charms are listed on the spreadsheet. If your charms are not on the spreadsheet (perhaps you didn't claim them when the spreadsheet came up or maybe a mod screwed up, it's entirely possible- both you and I are human beings we make mistakes), you'll need to include links to the charm events your character received a charm from in order to receive the wish.

What happens when a character dies?
Their bodies dissolve within two hours, if nothing is done to revive them. Previously dead bodies remained and were taken away physically, but since the unlocking of Windgate Creek this method of corpse retrieval is no longer necessary.
At that point, the character will see nothing but white, and will be required to sacrifice something important to them in order to receive a rejuvenated body and return to the city (they will wake up in the Bay again). If they refuse, the character is dropped from the game. The character themselves chooses the sacrifice as an IC decision. Genessia will not take anything without their permission.
My character died in canon and I want them to wake up here. Do I still need to have them pay a price to be revived?
No. Your character can wake up in the Bay either fully recovered, with their injuries healed to the point that they are not in a life-threatening situation, or you can have them dying and needing to call for help via the communicator. If you do that and have your character die after arriving, however, they will need to sacrifice something to be revived as they died within the world of Genessia.
When a character dies, does their network device respawn with them, and if so is it the same with all the history or does it reset?
The network device will be with them when they're revived unless it was damaged in the death event. For example: If the character drowned and their device got soaked, they have to buy a new one. The character's "account" is hooked to it though, so upon activating the new device, it will automatically upload the data much like a present-day cell phone does.
What sorts of things can a character sacrifice?
Anything, as long as it holds some importance to the character. It can be a memory, a personal belonging, a skill, an ability, etc. Please note that you can't give up something the character wouldn't mind getting rid of (such as memories of a disliked rival or villain), or something that can easily be replaced.
Is it possible for a character to regain something they sacrificed?
Yes, however there is only one method which is to gather four charms and make a wish.
Do characters collect scars in-game and what happens to those scars when they die?
You can have your character keep their scars and that would be the typical case, but if you would like your character to lose a game-gained scar, it may be repaired or visibly decreased during the revival process. This will only work for game-gained scars, not canon-gained scars. If your character needs/wants to get rid of a scar, there are healers in game that can likely assist with that and Nova City's technology is impressive enough to fix cosmetic damage- they don't need to die to get rid of scars if that's what the character wants. If a character dies and you want them to have a scar to remember it by, that's fine, though it will only be at the point where they died. (So if they're shot, there'll be a bullet scar if you'd like.) However, if their bodies are damaged too significantly for recovery they'll be refreshed entirely (so if they're burned to death, they won't have burn scars all over their body and any other scars they gained in game might disappear as well).

What's this about the populace? How does that work?
For the sake of simplicity, we'll just say that all the cities are populated with NPCs. Sometimes you need lackeys, or someone to serve you a hamburger. Sometimes you want to go do something evil without having to screw over a player's character, or you want to go fight some monsters to keep your skills sharp. Well, there you go, NPCs are at the ready! Not only will you find NPCs in each of the major cities, you'll also find them where applicable in the extra Archways that people have established. You can assume that characters who haven't been apped are present in the subarchways, but interaction with them should be minimal and either summarized or done behind the scenes. Once a character is apped, the NPC version won't show up in that town anymore unless the character gets dropped.
Are the NPCs real people?
The NPCs are NOT REAL (though a character might not realize this), and are easily distinguished because they lack the necklaces that those called formally into Genessia were given. While the NPCs can't exit a town through an archway or subarchway, they can be escorted through as long as they're in contact with someone who possesses a necklace. Only NPCs escorted through a subarchway by the owner of that subarchway will be able to remain outside of it for more than 24 hours. NPCs are unique in design, and no two NPCs are alike unless they're twins. NPCs will match the genre for the subarchway they are in. (Nova will have a more superpowered/alien/robot/cyborg/etc. population, Fayren will be more fantasy-style, and so on.)
Are the NPCs created by the spirits?
Yes!
Do the NPCs act differently than "real" people do in any noticeable way?
They seem to act like normal people except that they don't have pendants/necklaces and that they cannot cross through cities without being escorted by someone who possesses one. If someone with the ability to sense souls/aura/chi/whatever you want to call it tries to sense theirs, they will not be able to sense one (anyone with a pendant would be sense-able).
Who plays the NPCs for bounties?
Most of the bounty NPCs can be played by anybody who wants to take them on, as the mods usually won't have time to run long and involved threads with them. If it is a special mod NPC, then a mod will play the NPC and it will be noted in the posting. Otherwise you are free to play the NPC yourself or ask someone else to play the NPC for you.
What happens when NPCs get killed?
The ones in Genessia do not respawn typically, instead going to the following locations in each archway:

What happens when NPCs get killed?
The ones in Genessia do not respawn typically, instead going to the following locations in each archway:
- Genessia: Genessia Hospital's Morgue- processed by medical examiner and taken away by official Genessian Undertakers, though they don't seem to have names or much in the way of talking.
Attleton: Outsources its dead to Genessia, which has a bigger hospital.
Nova City: Nova City Hospital Digital Analysis Morgue. Computers do the analysis, then the Genessian Undertakers come. (Same as Genessia.)
Fayren: Fayren residents cremate bodies. There is no formal examination unless specifically requested by law enforcement.
Everglade: Law enforcement gets the body first and may choose to send it to whoever they need- be it a spiritual leader or psychic or straight to the funeral home, then buried in one of Everglade's many graveyards.
